INTEGRITY
Verse: "Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children." (Ephesians 5:1)
Devotional: What does it mean to imitate God? When we imitate someone, we copy them because we admire them. If you want to be a great basketball player, you might try to shoot like your favorite player. But in life, God is the best one to follow. God is loving, truthful, and kind. So when we imitate God, we tell the truth, we are kind to others, and we always try to do what’s right.
Illustration: Imagine you're in the middle of a game, and you see a player from the other team fall down. No one else sees, but you have the choice to help them up. That’s showing integrity! It’s not about whether someone’s watching, it’s about doing what’s right because you’re trying to be like God, who is always good.
What are some ways we can show integrity at home? At school? On the basketball court?
Have you ever had a chance to do the right thing when no one else was looking?
Basketball Application: A player with integrity always plays fair. They don’t cheat, and they don’t try to get away with things that aren’t right. If we want to be players and people with integrity, we’ll always aim to do the right thing—even if we’re the only ones who know.
Takeaway for the Week: Let’s practice doing the right thing when no one is watching. For our next practice and game, find one way to be kind, honest, or helpful, even if no one else notices. God sees your heart and is pleased when you live with integrity.
